Saira Blair: youngest elected law maker of America


Saira Blair became youngest elected state lawmaker. She is just 18 years old and she did most of her campaigning out of her dorm room. She defeated her Democrat opponent by 63% to 30%.
In a statement, Ms. Blair thanked her supporters and family, as well as her opponents for running a positive campaign. “History has been made tonight in West Virginia, and while I am proud of all that we have accomplished together, it is the future of this state that is now my singular focus,” she said.

Ms Blair ran her campaign on pledge to work on reduction of certain taxes on businesses and she stands against abortion but have a pro-guns position.
Saira Blair who is a student in West Virginia University, planned to defer her spring semester to attend the part-time legislators’ 60 days training session and she will make up classes in summer and fall. Her major is in economics, she hopes to become a financial planner.
